Bucharest, May 2024. TGS Software SRL, a Romanian software development company, is taking a concrete step towards sustainability by installing a photovoltaic solar panel system that covers a large share of the energy used by the company’s servers.
A green initiative with real impact
Servers are the heart of TGS Software’s digital infrastructure, supporting applications, databases and cloud software services. They draw a constant and considerable amount of electricity. With this investment in solar panels, TGS Software aims to reduce its environmental impact and manage its energy use in a responsible, sustainable way.
“For us, sustainability is not a trend but a responsibility. By moving our servers to renewable energy, we are showing our commitment to the environment and to a cleaner future for the IT industry.”
— Cornel Serban, CEO, TGS Software SRL
What the project includes
- Solar panels with a total capacity of 20 kW
- An estimated reduction in CO₂ emissions of more than 8 tonnes per year
- Partial energy independence for the IT infrastructure
- Real-time monitoring of consumption and production
- A long-term sustainability vision
The initiative is part of a broader sustainability plan at TGS Software SRL, which includes:
- streamlining internal processes to use fewer resources;
- fully digitising documents to reduce paper use;
- a recycling and waste-sorting programme in our offices;
- encouraging green mobility among employees.
Social responsibility
Aware of our impact on the community and the environment, we take responsibility for actively contributing to social well-being and to protecting natural resources. At TGS Software, we encourage employees to adopt green habits in their daily work and to share these values with their families and friends.
We believe change starts with small, consistent steps, and that together we can make a meaningful difference. That is why we support employees who take part in volunteering, recycling campaigns, green mobility and community projects that contribute to a sustainable future.
Through personal example and the support of those close to us, each of us can amplify the positive effect on the environment and society.
